Is it Enough?: Slowing Down at the Library

One thing about this adventure of homeschooling is that you ALWAYS worry if "it's enough". Even if a major factor behind the motivation of this decision is based upon slowing down and simplifying, you STILL wonder...is it enough?

I guess that's the inevitable essence of parenting, is it not? Wondering if we're enough? Wondering if we're DOING enough for our kids and our family? I don't know if I've ever talked to another parent that DOESN'T think this!

But do we ever wonder if it's enough for ourselves? Why is it so constant a thought, and sometimes a pestering one at that, to wonder if we're doing enough for everyone else; but when it comes to ourselves, we are quick to dismiss our hopes, desires and dreams to the back burner and let it be an occasional thought that is quickly pushed aside?

I'm just as guilty of this as anyone. But I've decided that this is going to change. I've decided to put myself first. And believe it or not, that is largely what this adventure has been about. Putting myself first.

You'd think the choice to homeschool would be focusing even MORE on others and less on myself, but surprisingly, it hasn't been. Through the help of many resources, it's forced me to re-evaluate how I spend my time, to create a rhythm of our day and to put some really intentional thought into many things that I kept putting aside that really needed my attention.

I look forward to diving deeper and sharing these with you as we journey forward...

In the meantime, Odin and I are going to read a bit more here at the library and decide which books to check out and bring home. Because we can.

And because, you know what? That's a part of our plan for the day. And all doubts aside, it's ENOUGH.
